MPSA currently seeks mentors for 2017-2018 Academic Year Mentoring. To participate as a mentor, please complete the appropriate brief mentor application(s) for further consideration. Notifications will be sent in spring!
MPSA Academic Year Mentoring
MPSA invites faculty members to serve as volunteer mentors during the 2017-2018 Academic Year. Training will be made available prior to the program launch to help you with a successful start to your mentoring relationship.
How does it work?
By submitting the following application, you agree to serve as a faculty mentor during for the duration of the 2107-2018 academic year. Potential mentees will be encouraged to sign up online in early-March. MPSA staff will match one mentee with each mentor based on the information provided by both parties. In mid-March 2017, mentors will receive a notification containing name(s), contact information, and a brief biographical sketch of their mentee. A mentoring lounge will be available at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago as a quiet meeting place for mentoring program participants for the duration of the MPSA conference.
MPSA Mentoring Reception at Annual Conference
Mentors will guide conversations with no more than four mentees to discuss current research and professional aspirations. The Mentoring Reception will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 6:30 - 7:30pm at the Palmer House Hilton.
How does it work?
Short biographical sketches of this year's mentors is now available online. Potential mentees will be encouraged to sign up online for specific mentors as availability exists. Notifications containing mentee name(s), contact information, and research question/conversation topic will be provided to mentors in mid-March 2017. Shortly after, each participant will receive a message of introduction to others participating in the small group mentoring session. Mentee RSVPs will be accepted January 31 through March 20, 2017.
