The MPSA is hiring two graduate assistants (an Administrative Graduate Assistant, and a Membership and Customer Service Graduate Assistant) for the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters. The MPSA operates virtually and has employees in seven states with a staff of nine FTE. The MPSA annual conference will be held April 7-10, 2022, in-person in Chicago, IL, as well as virtually. All staff must work the week of the conference.

Employees work remotely and the work schedule is flexible. The positions will be approximately 15 hours per week during Fall semester and 20 hours per week during Spring semester, with additional hours possible in the lead up to the conference in April, and a 40-hour work week during the conference.

Administrative Graduate Assistant

Remote/Telecommute
15-20 hours per week
$18/hour

This position will work closely with the Executive Office and Membership Department to provide administrative support, assistance with the member communities, and assistance with data entry and cleanup.

Duties will include:

  • Conducting video interviews of staff to assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) materials.
  • Gathering historical data about the association, the conference, and the AJPS, and curating survey results.
  • Assisting the Professional Development Manager with identifying, editing, and posting resources to the online member communities and with identifying Twitter content relevant to graduate students.
  • Assisting the Professional Development Manager with identifying and posting job and grant listings.
  • Assisting with exhibit hall sales and set up.
  • Tagging resources and papers in the member communities.
  • Entering current and historical data in reporting dashboards, updating bounced emails and returned mailing addresses, and locating missing data.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working remotely preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills with a demonstrated proficiency with MS Office required.
  • Experience with Zoom and basic video editing skills required.
  • Must work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively, in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. (Must be able to communicate well with individuals from various countries and cultures.)
  • College degree required.

Membership and Customer Service Graduate Assistant

Remote/Telecommute
15-20 hours per week
$18/hour

This position will work closely with the Membership Department to assist with member services and provide customer support.

Duties will include:

  • Providing customer service to members via phone, email, and live chat.
  • Processing complimentary memberships and conference registrations.
  • Processing payment adjustments and refunds, as needed.
  • Reviewing and processing membership applications for special programs.
  • Assisting with AJPS Early View postings, blog posts, and social media promotion.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working remotely preferred.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Excellent computer skills with a demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and experience with Zoom required.
  • Must work efficiently, both independently and collaboratively, in a deadline-driven environment.
