January 22, 2018 MPSA Members,
As some of you may be aware, earlier this month, an allegation of inappropriate conduct was made involving one of our officers in 2002.
We – the President, President-elect, and the Immediate Past President of the MPSA – want to assure each of our members that we are committed to the highest standards of professional conduct from the association’s officers and members. We are also committed to ensuring the highest standards of due process are met.
The allegations are currently being reviewed by the University of Michigan’s Office for Institutional Equity. At this point, we are actively monitoring the situation, and intend to wait for the pending review to produce necessary additional information and guidance. Whatever the outcome, the MPSA is fully committed to working to strengthen our policies and procedures to ensure that all of our members are treated with dignity and respect when interacting with the MPSA and its affiliates.
